Processing and privacy: The packing list is built inside your browser. Shipment data is not sent to any server.

How to use it

  1. Choose the document language, then enter the shipment reference and the date.
  2. Enter the shipper and the consignee.
  3. Describe the packages: how many, what type, the gross weight, and the dimensions as free text.
  4. Add the items: a description, quantity, unit and the package each item is packed in, and check the total quantity.
  5. Press “Create PDF”, check the preview and the page count, then download and print the file.

Example

The preloaded example: 3 cartons with a gross weight of 18.5 kg, holding 40 size L shirts in package 1, 40 size M shirts in package 2 and 25 belts in package 3.

That is 3 item lines and a total quantity of 40 + 40 + 25 = 105 pcs, the same figure in the summary and in the PDF. If you use more than one unit, each unit gets its own total line.

Limits and caveats

  • A packing list carries no prices or customs value. It is not a commercial invoice, a bill of lading or a customs document.
  • Weight and dimensions are whatever you type; the tool does not calculate weight from the items or check that package numbers fall within the package count.
  • With mixed units, “Total quantity” adds numbers of different units, which is why a total per unit is shown as well. Decimal quantities are summed exactly to six places.
  • Up to 200 items. A 60-item document spanning several pages with a repeated table header was tested.
  • The embedded font covers Arabic and Latin; emoji are replaced with “?” and you are told how many. Arabic diacritics may sit slightly off and Arabic text copied out of the PDF may paste in the wrong order. Nothing is saved after you close the page.

Questions about this tool

How is a packing list different from an invoice?

A packing list describes what is in the shipment: which items, in which package and in what quantity, with no prices. An invoice states the amounts owed.

How do I enter the package number for an item split across packages?

The field is free text, so you can type “1-3” or “2, 4”. You can also repeat the item on several lines with the quantity in each package.

Can I use different units?

Yes. Type a unit for each item, such as pcs, box or kg. If you leave it empty, “pcs” is used. With more than one unit, a separate total appears for each.

What should a packing list include?

A packing list should include the shipment reference and date, the shipper and consignee, the number, type, gross weight and dimensions of the packages, then each item with its quantity, unit and the package it is in, with no prices. All of these fields are in the tool, along with a line for the name and signature of whoever checked the shipment.

Do I need a packing list for international shipping?

Usually yes, because many carriers and customs brokers ask for a packing list together with the commercial invoice to see what is in each package. Requirements differ between countries and carriers, so ask your carrier or broker which documents they need. The list from this tool is not a commercial invoice or a customs document.
