PDF page numbering
Stamp page numbers on an existing PDF: choose the format, position, font size, color and start number, and limit numbering to a page range. Arabic text is drawn with joined letters in the right direction. Number the pages of a contract, a report or a booklet before you print or send it; everything runs in your browser.

How to use it
- Choose a PDF file.
- Pick a number format such as 1 / 12 or “Page 1 of 12”, or type your own template with {n} and {total}.
- Set the start number and the page range, and turn on “Skip the first page” if it is a cover.
- Choose the position (top or bottom; left, center or right), font size, margin and color, then press “Add numbers”.
- Check the preview, then download the numbered file. Your original file stays as it is.
Example
A 10-page file with range 2-10, start number 1 and the format “Page {n} of {total}”: page 1 is left completely unchanged, page 2 gets “Page 1 of 9” and page 10 gets “Page 9 of 9”.
Limits and caveats
- {total} is the last number printed (start number + numbered pages − 1), which is not necessarily the page count of the file.
- The font is IBM Plex Sans Arabic, embedded in the file. It covers Arabic and Latin; any character it lacks (emoji, Chinese…) is replaced by “?” and the tool tells you how many. Arabic diacritics may sit slightly off.
- The position is relative to the page as the reader sees it, honoring page rotation (/Rotate) and the crop box. The tool does not inspect page content, so a number can land on existing text or images: increase the margin or change the position.
- Numbers are drawn over the page as new text. Old page numbers already in the file are not removed.
- Tested limits: one file up to 100 MB and 500 pages. Font size 6 to 72 pt, margin 0 to 100 mm.
- Password-protected or encrypted files are refused; the tool does not bypass protection. Saving a digitally signed file again invalidates its signature.
Questions about this tool
How do I start numbering at the third page with number 1?
Type a range from 3 to the last page, such as 3-20, and keep the start number at 1. Pages 1 and 2 are left unchanged.
What does “Mirror the side on even pages” do?
It is for double-sided printing. The side you choose (left or right) is used on odd pages and flipped on even pages, so the number stays on the outer edge of the book.
Are Arabic-Indic digits (١٢٣) ordered correctly?
Yes. With “Arabic-Indic digits” only the page number and the total are converted, and the text follows the rules of bidirectional text: a bare “١ / ١٢” reads right to left, as it would in Arabic text.
How do I add page numbers to a PDF?
Choose the PDF, pick a number format, position and font size, press “Add numbers” and download the numbered file. You can set the start number and a page range, and your original file stays as it is.
How do I number a PDF without numbering the cover page?
Turn on “Skip the first page”: the cover gets no number and counting starts on the next page. With the start number at 1, page 2 carries the number 1; change the start number if you want it to carry 2.
