Search snippet preview

Enter a page title, description and URL to see an illustrative desktop and mobile preview with character counts and approximate pixel widths. It is an illustration only: real search appearance can differ, and search engines may rewrite titles and descriptions. This kind of tool is often called a SERP preview, short for search engine results page preview.

Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.

How to use it

  1. Type the page title as you want it in the <title> tag.
  2. Type the meta description in one or two sentences.
  3. Paste the full page URL. It must start with https:// or http://.
  4. Check the two illustrative previews, the character counts and the approximate pixel widths.
  5. Copy the <title> and <meta name="description"> tags, or download them as a file.

Example

The title “Oud & Bakhoor” with the URL https://example.com/perfumes/oud-oil gives the tag <title>Oud &amp; Bakhoor</title>, because & is written &amp; inside HTML.

The URL appears in the preview as a path: example.com › perfumes › oud-oil. An Arabic title makes the preview read right to left.

Limits and caveats

  • The preview is an illustration in a neutral design and does not imitate any particular search engine. Real results differ between engines, devices and search queries.
  • Search engines may rewrite the title and may choose other text from the page instead of your description. The tool cannot predict that.
  • Nothing in this tool affects how your page ranks, and title or description length is not a ranking factor in itself.
  • Pixel widths are approximate: they are measured in your browser with Arial at 20 px for the title and 14 px for the description, while search engines use their own fonts and rules. The figures mentioned (roughly 580, 920 and 680 px) are commonly observed widths, not published or guaranteed limits, and Arabic letters are measured with the system fallback font.
  • Line breaks and repeated spaces become a single space, because a title and a description are one line. The maximum is 600 characters for the title and 2,000 for the description.
  • The tool does not open the URL or check that the page exists, and the host is shown as the browser URL API returns it (Arabic domain names appear in xn-- form).

Questions about this tool

How long should the title and description be?

There is no published official limit. Titles are often shown in full when they are narrower than roughly 580 px on desktop (about 50 to 60 Latin characters), and descriptions below roughly 920 px on desktop (about 150 to 160 characters) and roughly 680 px on mobile (about 120 characters). These are approximate guidance values, not a guarantee.

Why does the search result show a different title or description from mine?

Because search engines decide what to display. They may rewrite a title using the page headings and link text, and they may take a description from the page content that fits the search query. The tags you write are a suggestion, not an instruction.

Is my data sent to a search engine or any server?

No. The preview is built and the widths are measured inside your browser. The tool does not contact any search engine and does not open your URL.

What is a SERP preview?

A SERP preview is an approximate picture of how a page may look in search results: its title, URL and description. SERP stands for search engine results page. Checking it before you publish helps you make sure the title and description read well and are not cut off at an important word.

How can I tell if my title will be cut off in search results?

Look at the approximate pixel width the tool measures: titles wider than roughly 580 px on desktop are often cut, and the tool flags a title that goes over that guide value. It does the same for descriptions at roughly 920 px on desktop and 680 px on mobile. This is guidance, not a guarantee, because search engines use their own fonts and may rewrite the title.
