I printed a QR code on my boxes and want to change where it goes; can I do that without reprinting?

You cannot change what is inside the code: it is a printed pattern holding the text you typed, character for character. What you can change is the page it opens, as long as the stored link points to a page on your own site, because the code will follow whatever you put at that address.

Why a printed code cannot be edited

The generator makes a static code. Your text becomes a pattern of dark and light squares, and there is no middleman server that reads the scan and decides where to send the customer. The scanning phone reads the link straight out of the pattern and opens it. So if you encode one product's page and later delete that product, every box you printed still opens a dead page.

An example from the tool: https://example.com/offer takes 25 bytes and appears in the 'What is stored inside the code' box exactly as typed. That text is all the code knows, and it stays that way for as long as the print lasts.

What you can actually change

  • If the code opens a page on your domain, such as example.com/offer, change that page whenever you like: a Ramadan deal this month, a National Day offer after it.
  • If the offer moves to another page, add a redirect from the old address to the new one in your store or site settings, if your platform supports redirects.
  • If the code holds a final link you do not control, such as a product link on an outside marketplace that later changes, the only fix is a new code, stuck over the old one or printed on the next batch of boxes.

How to plan for next time

  1. Pick a short, permanent address on your site just for packaging, such as example.com/box. You can tidy the last part into clean Latin letters with the URL slug generator.
  2. Open the QR code generator, choose 'Text or URL' and paste the full address including https://.
  3. Check the stored-content box, then download SVG for the printer.
  4. After printing, make that address show whatever you want now, and change it later without touching a single box.

A bonus of this approach: a short address gives a simpler pattern. A long product link like https://example.com/products/oud-oil-30ml?variant=gold uses 54 bytes, while example.com/offer with https:// uses 25, so the squares come out larger at the same print size.

Common questions

Can I edit the code from the tool after downloading it?

No. The tool does not store or manage your codes; it only builds the file inside your browser. Any change to the content means a new code.

I deleted the page by mistake. Are my boxes broken?

The code itself is fine, but it opens a missing page. Recreate a page at the same address, or redirect it, and the boxes work again.
