I shot a batch of products from the same tripod position. How do I crop exactly the same area from every photo?
Type the same numbers for every photo. The cropper handles one image at a time, but the box is defined by four exact pixel values: X, Y, width and height. Note them from the first photo and type them into each one after it, size first and position second. Photos with identical dimensions then get identical crops.
Why numbers beat dragging
When you shoot products on a phone tripod, each product lands in roughly the same spot in the frame. Dragging by hand gives a box a few pixels different every time, so products seem to jump slightly from one catalog image to the next. Typed values remove that difference entirely, because the Image cropper applies them straight to the original image's pixels.
Steps
- Open the first photo, pick a ratio such as 1:1, and drag the box until you are happy with it.
- Copy the four values from the fields, 'X from left', 'Y from top', 'Width' and 'Height', into a note.
- Download, then open the next photo. The ratio and format you chose stay selected; the box goes back to its starting position.
- Type the width first, then X, then Y. With 1:1 the height follows on its own.
- Check the 'Output:' line, download, and repeat for the rest.
4000 × 3000 photos at 1:1: the box starts as a 3000 × 3000 square at X = 500.
Typing a width of 1800: the box becomes 1800 × 1800 and stays at X = 500, Y = 0.
Typing X = 1100 then Y = 600: the box is 1800 × 1800 at 1100, 600, in every photo.
Why the order matters
The tool honors the position you type and changes the size to keep the box inside the image. If you type the position first while the box is still large, it may not fit from there and shrinks. If you then type the width, the tool may move the box to keep it inside, and the position you typed is lost.
Wrong order: the box is 3000 × 3000 and you type X = 3000 first. Only 1000 pixels remain to the edge, so the box shrinks to 1000 × 1000.
Then you type a width of 1800: it does not fit from X = 3000, so the box moves to X = 2200.
So type the size first and the position second, and the values work on every photo with the same dimensions.
When results will not match
- If one photo has different dimensions, for example because it was taken in another camera mode, the same numbers land on a different area. Check the dimensions in the line shown above the photo once it loads before typing.
- If the tripod or the product moved between shots, identical crops will not make up for it; nudge X or Y for that photo.
- If some photos are stored sideways, the tool applies the orientation recorded in the file first, which can swap the width and height.
After cropping, if you want all the photos smaller, resize them to the same size with the Image resizer.
Common questions
Does the tool remember the values for the next photo?
It keeps the ratio and the save format. The box values reset with each new photo, so type them from your note.
Can I nudge the box precisely with the keyboard?
Yes. Focus the box and move it with the arrow keys by 1 px, or by 10 px with Shift.
Is there a batch crop for all photos at once?
No, one image is processed at a time.
