Does the discount calculator send my prices anywhere, and does it work offline?
It sends nothing. The maths runs in your browser on your own device, and nothing you type is stored. Once the page has fully loaded, the calculator keeps working even if the connection drops, which helps in a warehouse or a shop with poor signal.
Why this matters for discounts in particular
Sale figures before launch are competitive information. The White Friday rate you are planning, the price you will drop to, the extra code you mean to switch on for the last day: none of it should be known before its time. The same goes for a trade discount you negotiated with a supplier, because it gives away your cost.
What happens to your numbers
- The formula is multiplication and subtraction, run entirely by code your browser loaded with the page. No server is needed to do the maths.
- There is no login and no account, so nothing ties your figures to your name.
- The fields are not saved. Reload the page and you see the default example, a price of 200 with 15% off, not what you last typed.
- The site's visit statistics record that the tool was opened, never a price or rate you type. The details are on the privacy page.
Try it offline
- Open the Discount calculator and wait for the page to finish loading.
- Turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data, or switch on airplane mode.
- Type a price and a rate, and add a second discount if you like. The result updates instantly while you are offline.
- One catch: if you close or reload the page while offline, it may not open again. Leave it open in a tab before you head somewhere with weak coverage.
The test doubles as proof of privacy: a tool that sent your numbers to a server for the maths would stop the moment the connection went.
What stays your responsibility
- The copy button puts the price, the discounts and the result on your clipboard. Mind where you paste it, especially in group chats with people outside your team.
- A screenshot keeps your sale figures in your photo gallery, which may upload itself to cloud storage.
- On a shared shop device, close the tab when you finish so the next person does not see your last figures.
Common questions
Can I go back to an earlier calculation?
No, because nothing is stored. To keep a result, copy it with the copy button and save it somewhere you trust.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in the phone's browser in exactly the same way, with the maths running on the phone itself.
