How do I find my logo's color code to enter in my Salla or Zid store color settings?
Open the original logo file in the color picker, click in the middle of a solid area of the main color, copy the HEX value and paste it into the color field of your store dashboard. That is the answer; the details below stop the small mistakes that leave your buttons looking close to your logo instead of matching it.
Why eyeballing the color is not enough
Store dashboards such as Salla and Zid let you set your theme colors, but dragging around a color wheel will not land you on the exact shade. A green that is nearly your logo's green looks fine in the preview and then stands out the moment the Add to Cart button sits next to the logo in the header. The fix is to carry over the number itself, not your impression of it.
Which logo file should you use?
- Best: the original PNG your designer delivered, because PNG does not shift colors when saved.
- Acceptable: a decent resolution JPEG of the logo, as long as you pick from a wide area rather than an edge.
- Avoid: a screenshot of your Instagram profile or a logo that went through WhatsApp. Those copies have been recompressed and their colors may have moved.
- If you only have an SVG, the tool does not open it. Ask your designer for a PNG export or for the brand guide that lists the codes.
From the logo to the dashboard, step by step
- Open the Image color picker and choose the logo file as PNG, JPEG or WebP.
- Click in the middle of the largest shape carrying the main color, and watch the magnifier to make sure the outlined square sits inside the color, not on its edge.
- Copy the HEX value, the one starting with #.
- In your store dashboard, open the theme or branding settings, find the color field that accepts a typed code starting with #, and paste it. Where that field lives depends on your theme and can change with platform updates.
- Repeat for the logo's second color if you want it as an accent.
Example: a teal logo
Take a dark teal logo. A click in the middle of its leaf shape shows #0F6B5F, rgb(15, 107, 95) and hsl(172, 75%, 24%). That is the value to paste. Click on the edge of the leaf instead, where the color blends into the white background, and you might get something like #87B5AF, which is hsl(172, 24%, 62%): nearly the same hue, but much lighter and far less saturated. Put that in your store and your buttons would look washed out next to the logo.
So the rule is simple: stay away from edges, and click where everything the magnifier shows around your marker is the same color.
After pasting: is text on it readable?
A logo color usually makes a good button background, but the white or black label on it has to read clearly on a phone screen. Paste the same code into the Color contrast checker and test it against white before you commit. For #0F6B5F the contrast ratio with white is 6.39 to 1, which works for normal text.
Common questions
The platform asks for RGB, not HEX. What now?
The tool shows all three at once: HEX, RGB and HSL. Copy the format the field asks for.
My logo has a gradient. Which point do I pick?
A gradient has no single color. Pick the point that represents the shade you want for buttons, or take the start and end colors and try both.
Is the logo sent to a server?
No, the file is read inside your browser only.
