How to combine several photos into one image
A product that comes in three colors, or an item you want to show from the front, back and side in one picture. A tidy combined image tells a customer at a glance what might otherwise take four separate photos.
Two basic layouts
- A grid with the number of columns you set: 2 photos in 2 columns side by side, 4 photos in 2 columns as a 2 × 2, or 9 photos in 3 columns.
- One large featured photo with the others smaller beside it, a good way to spotlight the main product.
Two photos of 300 × 200 each, in 2 columns with a 20 pixel gap, no margin and a final width of 620 pixels.
Each cell is 300 × 200, and the output is 620 × 200 pixels, with the gap between the photos in the background color.
How to do it
- Open the Image collage maker maker and choose 2 to 12 photos, then order them with the move buttons.
- Pick the layout: a grid with a number of columns, or one large photo with smaller ones.
- Set the cell shape, the fit, the gap, the margin, the background and the final width.
- Check the preview and download the image as JPEG, PNG or WebP.
Fill and crop, or contain?
“Fill” makes each photo fill its cell completely and trims the edges around the center, so the grid looks perfectly even. “Contain” shows each whole photo inside its cell with background around it, so no part of the product is lost. If your product sits near the edge of the photo, choose contain so it is not cut off.
The tool's limits
- The output is limited to 40 megapixels and a width between 200 and 8000 pixels. If the size goes over the limit, the tool refuses the download and shows the size instead of giving you a broken file.
- The height is worked out from the width, the rows and the cell shape; it cannot be typed in.
- The crop area in “Fill” is around the center and cannot be moved.
- Ordering uses buttons, not dragging, and the tool adds no text or frames.
- A transparent background is available for PNG and WebP only.
If your photos are very large, shrink them first with the Image resizer, and after combining, reduce the file size with the Image compressor before uploading.
Common questions
How many photos can I combine?
From 2 to 12. The largest output we tested was 8000 × 4500 pixels from 12 photos.
Do the photos lose resolution?
The download is drawn from the original photos at full resolution. But enlarging a small photo to fill a big cell makes it softer.
Are my photos uploaded?
No, combining happens inside your browser.
