How to create a WhatsApp link with a pre-filled message

You put your number in your Instagram bio, so a customer saves it, searches for it, then types a message. You lose customers at every one of those steps. A WhatsApp link turns them into one tap that opens the chat with a message ready to send.

What the link looks like

A direct WhatsApp link is wa.me followed by your number in full international format, with no plus sign, no leading zeros and no spaces:

https://wa.me/966500000000

This is an example number, not a real one. The local number 0500000000 became 966500000000: we added the country code 966 and removed the first zero. Leaving that zero in is the most common reason a link does not work.

Adding a ready-made message

The message goes after the number, but it has to be encoded first, so a space becomes %20 and a comma becomes %2C. Arabic letters turn into much longer codes, and the tool handles all of it for you. Here is an example with a short English message so the link stays readable:

https://wa.me/966500000000?text=Hi%2C%20is%20the%20blue%20bag%20still%20available%3F

How to do it

  1. Open the WhatsApp link generator.
  2. Choose the country code and type your local number. The first zero is removed automatically.
  3. Type the ready-made message if you want one, in Arabic or English.
  4. Copy the link, or open it to test.

Where to use it

  • In your social media bios.
  • Next to each product in your store, with a message naming the product, so you know straight away which item the customer is asking about.
  • In a QR code printed on the thank-you card inside each order. Create the code from the same link with the QR code generator.

What to know

  • Creating the link does not send any message. The text appears in the message box, and whoever opens the link can edit or delete it before sending.
  • The tool checks the number's format only. It cannot know whether the number exists or is registered on WhatsApp. Test the link yourself before publishing it.
  • Some countries keep the zero in the international number, Italy for example. Type numbers from those countries in full yourself.
  • Messages are limited to 1,500 characters to keep the link workable. That is the tool's limit, not a published WhatsApp limit.

Common questions

Is this site part of WhatsApp?

No. The site is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.

Does an Arabic message work in the link?

Yes. Arabic letters are encoded automatically and appear exactly as you wrote them when the link opens.

What is the difference between wa.me and api.whatsapp.com?

Both open the same chat, and the tool gives you both. The wa.me link is shorter and better for sharing.
