- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.

How it is calculated
Room = insole length − foot length. Below the minimum is tight; above the maximum means the shoe is too big.
Example
Inputs: Foot length = 15 cm, Insole length = 16.2 cm, Minimum room = 1 cm, Maximum room = 2 cm. Result: Result: Good fit; Room in front of the toes: 1.2 cm.
Limits and caveats
- The 1 and 2 cm limits are common fitting advice, not a formal standard, and you can change them.
- It checks length only, not width or instep height.
Questions about this tool
How much toe room does a child need?
Many fitters suggest about a thumb’s width, 1 to 1.5 cm, which is why the minimum here is 1 cm.
How do I measure the insole?
Take it out and measure from the heel edge to the furthest point at the front; if it is glued, use a soft tape inside.
Why is a shoe that is too big a problem?
A loose shoe lets the foot slide and can cause trips, so children need a secure fit with sensible room.
