How it is calculated

US child size = 3 × last length (in) − 11.75; Y sizes continue the same scale after 13.5C. UK child size = 3 × last length (in) − 12; UK adult size = 3 × last − 25. EU size = 1.5 × last length (cm), one Paris point being 2/3 cm. Last length = foot length + 2/3 in.

Example

Inputs: Group = Toddler (4.5C to 10C). Result: Sizes listed: 12; Shortest foot in the chart: 12.1 cm; Longest foot in the chart: 16.7 cm.

Limits and caveats

  • The last is taken as 2/3 in (about 17 mm) longer than the foot; some European makers add only 13 mm.
  • Brands differ by half a size to a full size, so check the brand chart before you buy.
  • Group names are loose; foot length decides the size, not age.

Questions about this tool

What is the difference between 13.5C and 1Y?

1Y follows 13.5C on the same scale, so it is half a size larger.

Should I choose by age?

Ages vary a lot between children, so measure the foot and pick the row that matches it.

Why is the chart ordered by US size?

The US scale runs from baby to 7Y in even half-size steps, so it is easy to follow.
