Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter markdown table.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Each column width is the longest cell in it (at least 3); cells are padded with spaces according to the column alignment and the separator row is rebuilt to that width with the original colons.
Example
Result: Formatted table: | product | price | | :------------ | ----: | | Tea | 12.5 | | Arabic coffee | 18 |; Rows: 3; Columns: 2.
|product|price| |:-|-:| |Tea|12.5| |Arabic coffee|18
| product | price | | :------------ | ----: | | Tea | 12.5 | | Arabic coffee | 18 |
Limits and caveats
- Width is counted in characters, so columns can look uneven with Arabic, CJK characters or emoji.
- If the separator row is missing, a --- row is added after the first row.
Questions about this tool
Does formatting change how the table renders?
No. The rendered table looks the same; only the source becomes easier to read.
Is my alignment kept?
Yes. The colons are kept for each column and cells are padded in the same direction.
What happens to short rows?
Empty cells are added so every row has the same number of columns.
