How it is calculated
US belt size = waist size + 2 in. Length in cm = belt size × 2.54. The cm label = the nearest multiple of 5, e.g. 34 = 86.36 cm = 85.

Limits and caveats
- Adding 2 in is the common US rule; some brands add just 1, so check the brand chart.
- Some German shops measure belts another way and label them 10 to 15 cm longer.
