How it is calculated
Common chart: S = waist 28 to 30 in, M = 32 to 34, L = 36 to 38, XL = 40 to 42, XXL = 44 to 46, 3XL = 48 to 50. A number between ranges takes the larger letter.

Limits and caveats
- Elastic waists cover a wide range, and brands draw the letter limits differently.
- The chart is for body measurements, not the flat garment width.

It falls between M and L, and the tool gives L for comfort.
