Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.

How to use it

  1. Enter width, length and unit.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Sorts the two sides short to long, compares them with every standard size and picks the smallest difference. A match is a difference of 2 mm or less.

Example

Inputs: Width = 210, Length = 297, Unit = Millimetres. Result: Size: A4; Standard dimensions: 210 × 297 mm; Largest difference: 0 mm.

Limits and caveats

  • Compares against ISO A and B, C and DL envelopes and the main US sheets only, not Japanese JIS sizes or photo paper.

Questions about this tool

My sheet is 21.6 × 27.9 cm, what size is it?

That is US Letter, 8.5 × 11 inches.

Does orientation matter?

No, the tool sorts the two sides, so portrait and landscape give the same answer.

Why is there a small difference?

Ruler reading and paper cutting add a little error, so we treat 2 mm or less as a match.
