Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter horizontal resolution, vertical resolution and diagonal.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
PPI = √(width² + height²) in pixels ÷ diagonal in inches. Dot pitch = 25.4 ÷ PPI in mm.
Example
Inputs: Horizontal resolution = 1,920 px, Vertical resolution = 1,080 px, Diagonal = 24 in. Result: Pixel density: 91.79 PPI; Dot pitch: 0.2767 mm; Total pixels: 2,073,600.
Limits and caveats
- Relies on the advertised diagonal, which some makers round, so the result can be slightly off.
Questions about this tool
What is the PPI of a 24 inch Full HD monitor?
About 92 PPI; a 27 inch 2560 × 1440 screen is about 109 PPI.
How do PPI and DPI differ?
PPI is pixel density on a screen or in an image, DPI is ink dots from a printer.
Is higher PPI always better?
The gain shrinks with distance; a phone held close needs more density than a TV across the room.
