How do I copy specs from a manufacturer's PDF datasheet into my Amazon listing without the header repeated on every page?

Extract just the spec pages in combined mode, run the text through the duplicate line remover so the header is left once, then through the whitespace cleaner. Paste the specs into your listing afterwards, checking every value and unit against the datasheet and against Amazon's current rules.

Why the header repeats

A manufacturer's datasheet usually carries the company name and model number at the top of every page and a page number at the bottom. Those lines are real text in the file, so they are extracted with each page. A two page sheet gives you the header twice; a twenty page manual gives it twenty times, scattered among the specs.

A worked two page datasheet

Worked example

The combined text comes out as 9 lines: the header ACME Tools LLC Datasheet DX-200, then Voltage: 220 V, Power: 750 W and Page 1 of 2, then a blank line between the pages, then the header again, then Weight: 2.4 kg, Cable length: 3 m and Page 2 of 2.

The duplicate line remover takes out one line, the second header, and keeps 8.

Page 1 of 2 and Page 2 of 2 both stay, because they differ by one character. Delete them by hand.

The whitespace cleaner turns the double space inside the header into a single space.

The steps

  1. Open the PDF text extractor and type only the spec pages in the Pages field, such as 3-4, skipping the warranty and safety pages.
  2. Choose One combined text, press Extract text, and copy all the text.
  3. Paste it into the Duplicate-line remover to drop the repeated header and footer.
  4. Run the result through the Whitespace cleaner to even out spaces and blank lines.
  5. Delete page numbers and anything not meant for buyers by hand, then paste the specs into your listing.

Before you paste

  • Spec tables lose their columns: each row becomes one line such as Voltage 220 V, with spaces between cells. If the table compares several models, separate the values with care.
  • Removing duplicates can remove a line you want. If two models both list Material: Steel, it survives only once. Check against the original.
  • Verify figures and units, especially symbols such as ± and °C, which can come out differently depending on how the file was made.
  • Amazon has its own rules for product pages and attribute fields, and they change. Follow the platform's current guidance and treat the extracted text as raw material, not the final copy.
  • If the datasheet is a scan, no text will come out, and the tool will say so for each page.

Copying from a manufacturer and content rights

Technical figures such as voltage and weight are facts about the product, but the marketing paragraphs in a brochure may be protected. Use the specs and write the sales description in your own words, which also sets your listing apart from the dozens of sellers who pasted the same brochure.

Common questions

Why not use Page by page mode?

It adds a page heading before every page, which you would then have to delete as well. Combined mode gives you the text alone.

Can the extractor skip the header by itself?

No. It extracts all the text on the selected pages. Removing the header is a later step in the duplicate line tool.

The Arabic specs came out reversed. What now?

That depends on the program that made the file. Check the text before using it, and you may need to retype those lines.
