Customers sent their mobile numbers in Arabic-Indic digits; how do I convert them all at once to build WhatsApp links?
Paste the whole list, names and numbers together, into the digit converter and pick Western digits as the target. Every ٠ to ٩ becomes 0 to 9 in one step and the names stay exactly as they were. The list is then fit for a spreadsheet and for forms that reject Arabic-Indic digits, and you can feed each number to the WhatsApp link generator.
Where Arabic-Indic digits actually cause trouble
A customer typing on a phone set to Arabic usually sends a number like ٠٥٥١٢٣٤٥٦٧. You read it without effort, but plenty of systems see ten characters that are not numbers: a spreadsheet will not sort or search them the way you expect, and some phone fields in shipping and payment forms reject them with an error that never says why.
To be straight with you: the WhatsApp link generator on this site accepts Arabic-Indic digits in a single number and converts them itself. For one number, paste it straight in. The converter earns its place with the list: fifty numbers gathered from order messages that you want saved cleanly in one file, deduplicated, and reused in more than one place. Retyping them is where a missing digit or two swapped digits creeps in.
A worked example
Say you copied these two lines out of your chats:
أحمد ٠٥٥١٢٣٤٥٦٧
سارة ٠٥٠٩٨٧٦٥٤٣
Converted to Western digits, the list reads:
أحمد 0551234567
سارة 0509876543
The tool reports 20 digits converted, all from the Arabic-Indic style, and the two names are untouched. Nothing is added or removed: each digit moves to its counterpart with the same value in the same position.
From the list to the links
- Put the numbers in one text, one customer per line. The name can stay next to the number.
- Open the Arabic/Persian/Western digit converter, paste the text and choose 'Western 0123456789' as the target style.
- Keep both Arabic-Indic and Persian ticked under 'Styles to convert', because some customers type on a Persian or Urdu keyboard without realising it.
- Check the 'Digits converted' count, then copy the result and save it.
- For each customer, open the WhatsApp link generator, pick 966 in the country-code helper and paste the local number; the generator drops the leading 0 and builds the link.
What the converter does not do
Conversion changes the shape of the digits and nothing else. It does not add a country code, drop the leading zero, or strip the spaces and dashes a customer typed. Those belong to the format of the phone number itself, and the link generator is the place for them because it asks you for the country code directly and checks the digit count.
If a customer appears twice because they sent their number twice, run the converted list through the Duplicate-line remover. Order matters here: before conversion the same number might be written once in Arabic-Indic and once in Western digits, so the two lines do not match. After conversion they are truly identical and one of them goes, as long as the name beside them is spelled the same way.
Common questions
Can a number change value during conversion?
No. Each digit maps to exactly one digit of the same value, so ٠٥٥١٢٣٤٥٦٧ becomes 0551234567 character for character.
Do I need to delete the names before pasting?
No. Arabic and English letters are never changed, so you can keep each name next to its number and know whose link is whose.
Is my customer list sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and the list is not stored anywhere.
