How do I make a QR code that takes customers straight to my Google review page?
Copy the 'ask for reviews' link from your Google Business Profile, paste it into the tool as 'Text or URL', and download the code. The tool stores the link as it is, so scan it on a phone to confirm it opens the review form, then print it where customers wait: at the counter or on the receipt.
Where to get the right link
Inside the Business Profile dashboard, Google offers an option to ask for reviews that gives you a short link to share. Where that option sits changes from one update to the next, so look for it in your current dashboard or in Google's help pages. Do not copy your listing's Google Maps link instead: that opens the listing, and the customer then has to find the review button alone. Every extra step means fewer people finish.
Building the code
- Open the QR code generator and choose 'Text or URL'.
- Paste the full review link. A link shaped like https://g.page/r/EXAMPLE/review takes 31 bytes and gives a symbol 29 modules wide, small and comfortable at any size.
- Check the stored-content box to make sure the link was not cut off while copying.
- Download PNG for screens or SVG for print.
- Scan it with a phone that is not signed in to your account, so you see exactly what a customer sees.
The link above only shows the shape; use your own link exactly as Google gives it to you.
Where to put it, and when to ask
- At the counter next to the card machine, with a short line such as 'Tell us how we did: scan to review'.
- On the paper receipt or the shopping bag, so the customer reviews after trying the product.
- On cafe tables, kept apart from the menu code so customers do not mix the two up.
- Write a line under the code saying where it leads; it reassures people before they scan.
Do not try to track reviews by adding UTM tags to the Google link: it is Google's page, not yours, and its visits will not show up in your analytics. Use the UTM campaign link builder only for codes that open pages on your own site.
Common questions
Can the code pre-fill a five-star rating?
No. The code only opens the link; the customer chooses and writes the review themselves.
I renamed my business on Google. Will the code break?
The code holds the link you copied. If that review link still works after the change, so does the code; scan it after any major edit to be sure.
