How to add a watermark to your product photos

You photographed your products carefully, then found your photos in someone else's store. A watermark does not stop copying completely, but it makes using your photos without permission harder, and reminds anyone who sees them where they came from.

Text or logo?

You can type your store name in Arabic or English, with a color, bold and an outline or shadow so it shows over light and dark backgrounds. Or upload your logo as PNG, WebP or JPEG. A logo with a transparent background looks cleaner on top of a photo.

Size as a share of the image width

Size and margin are shares of each image's width, not pixels. That is why the mark looks consistent on photos of different sizes in the same batch.

Worked example

A product photo 1600 pixels wide, with the text “Sahla Store” at size 30% and opacity 60% at the bottom.

The text is 480 pixels wide and sits 48 pixels from both edges with a 3% margin.

The output is still 1600 × 1200 and in the same format.

How to do it

  1. Open the Image watermark editor tool and choose one or more photos, up to 30 at a time.
  2. Pick the watermark type: text you type or a logo you upload.
  3. Set the size, opacity and rotation, then pick a spot on the 3 × 3 grid, or repeat the mark across the whole image.
  4. Check the preview and download the photos, or download them all in a ZIP.

Tips for a watermark that helps rather than annoys

  • An opacity between 40% and 60% is usually enough: visible without covering the product.
  • Keep it off the details customers want to see, like a fabric pattern or a model number.
  • A mark in a corner is easy to crop away. For valuable photos, repeat it across the whole image, which is harder to remove.
  • After watermarking, you can shrink the files with the Image compressor.

What to know

  • The mark is merged into the pixels and cannot be removed from the output, so always keep your originals.
  • The output keeps the input format: JPEG at quality 92, WebP at quality 92 with transparency, PNG with no loss.
  • Text is a single line of up to 120 characters in IBM Plex; other fonts cannot be chosen.
  • Tested limits: 40 MB and 50 megapixels per image, and 10 MB for the logo.

If you have PDF files such as a catalogue or a quotation, there is a dedicated tool for those: PDF watermark.

Common questions

Does a watermark stop people stealing my photos?

Not completely, but it makes it harder and shows where the photo came from. A mark repeated across the image is harder to remove than one in a corner.

Is my logo uploaded to a server?

No, the photos and logo are processed inside your browser.

Can I watermark photos of different sizes together?

Yes. Because size and margin are shares of the width, the mark looks consistent on every photo.
