- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.

How it is calculated
Living = income × 0.70, saving = income × 0.20, debt or giving = income × 0.10, and yearly saving = monthly saving × 12.
Example
Inputs: Monthly take-home income = 8,000. Result: Living costs (70%): 5,600.00; Saving and investing (20%): 1,600.00; Debt payoff or giving (10%): 800.00.
Limits and caveats
- The shares are a guideline and can be adjusted, for example when debt is high.
- Use net income after deductions.
Questions about this tool
When should I pick 70/20/10 over 50/30/20?
When separating needs from wants is hard, or you want a fixed bucket for debt or giving.
What do I do with the 10% once debt is paid?
Send it to savings, charity or your emergency fund, depending on your priorities.
Is zakat part of the 10%?
Zakat is due on saved wealth that reaches the threshold for a lunar year, so it sits apart from this rule. You can use the 10% for voluntary charity.
