Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.

How to use it

  1. Enter card balance, annual interest rate (apr) and monthly payment.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Each month: interest = balance × (APR ÷ 12), added to the balance, then the payment is subtracted until the balance reaches zero. The last payment is only what is left.

Example

Inputs: Card balance = 5,000, Annual interest rate (APR) = 24 %, Monthly payment = 250. Result: Time to pay off: 26 months; Total interest: 1,449.36; Total paid: 6,449.36.

Limits and caveats

  • Assumes a fixed APR and no new purchases or fees on the card.
  • Banks accrue interest daily, so your statement can differ slightly.

Questions about this tool

Why does it say the payment does not cover the interest?

If the payment is at or below one month of interest, the balance never goes down. Pay more than balance × APR ÷ 12.

Does paying a little more really matter?

Yes. Every extra amount goes straight to principal and cuts the interest in every later month. Raise the payment and compare the total interest.

Are annual card fees included?

No, only interest is modelled. Add any expected fees to the balance for a fuller estimate.
