Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.

How to use it

  1. Enter shared cost, person 1 income, person 2 income and person 3 income (optional).
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Person's share = cost × their income ÷ total income. Share of income each person pays = cost ÷ total income × 100.

Example

Inputs: Shared cost = 6,000, Person 1 income = 15,000, Person 2 income = 10,000. Result: Person 1 pays: 3,600.00; Person 2 pays: 2,400.00; Person 3 pays: Not included.

Limits and caveats

  • The split looks at income only and ignores each person's own debts or commitments.
  • Use net income for everyone or gross income for everyone, not a mix.

Questions about this tool

Why split by income instead of evenly?

The same amount is a heavier load for the lower earner. Splitting by income has everyone pay the same share of what they earn.

Which costs suit this split?

Rent, bills, groceries and anything everyone uses. Personal spending stays with the person who makes it.

Can I split several costs at once?

Yes, add up the month's shared costs and enter the total, since the percentages stay the same.
