How to use it
- Enter weight, karat, 24k gold price per gram and amount paid when buying (optional).
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Purity = karat ÷ 24. Price per gram at this karat = 24K price × karat ÷ 24. Value = weight × that price. Pure gold = weight × karat ÷ 24.
Example
Inputs: Weight = 50 g, Karat = 21 karat, 24K gold price per gram = 400, Amount paid when buying (optional) = 16,000. Result: Current gold value: 17,500.00; Pure gold content: 43.75 g; Price per gram at 21K: 350.00.
Limits and caveats
- Making charges and the dealer buy/sell spread are not included, so the real resale price of jewelry is usually lower.
- Purity is karat ÷ 24, while some hallmarks are slightly higher, such as 585 for 14K and 916 for 22K.
- Gold prices change constantly; enter the current price yourself.
Questions about this tool
How do I get the 21K price from the 24K price?
Multiply the 24K price by 21 and divide by 24, which is × 0.875. For example 400 × 0.875 = 350.
Why does the dealer offer less when buying from me?
Dealers buy below the market price and usually do not pay for making charges. The calculator gives the value of the gold itself at the market price.
Does it work for gold bars?
Yes. Choose 24 karat for 999.9 bars and enter the bar weight in grams.
