How it is calculated
Letter values are added, and a letter after ͵ is multiplied by 1000. Places must run from largest to smallest with one letter each, so ͵βκϛ = 2000 + 20 + 6 = 2026.
Example
Inputs: Greek numeral = χξϛ. Result: Number: 666.

Limits and caveats
- A final ς is read as stigma (6), since many people type it in its place; σ stays 200.
- Only numbers up to 9999 are read.
Questions about this tool
How do I know a word is a numeral?
It usually ends with the keraia ʹ or carries a bar above it, which marks numbers in Greek texts.
What does ͵α mean?
The sign ͵ before a letter multiplies it by 1000, so ͵α is 1000.
Are capital letters accepted?
Yes. Capitals and lowercase read the same, so Α and α are both 1.
