How to use it
- Enter hexadecimal number.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Replace each hex digit with its fixed 4 bits: 0 = 0000, 9 = 1001, A = 1010 up to F = 1111, then drop the extra zeros on the far left.
Example
Inputs: Hexadecimal number = 1A3. Result: Result in binary: 110100011.
1A3
110100011
Limits and caveats

- Up to 2000 digits before the point and 200 after it.
Questions about this tool
How many bits are in one hex digit?
Exactly four, so two hex digits such as FF make one 8-bit byte.
Do I need the 0x prefix?
It is optional. The tool accepts 0x1A3 or 1A3, upper or lower case, and ignores spaces.
Why are leading zeros missing from the result?
The first line shows the value without extra zeros. The grouped line pads every group to 4 bits, such as 0001 1010 0011.
