Questions
- How to add page numbers to a PDFHow to add page numbers to a finished PDF in a format like “Page 1 of 9”, start after the cover, and choose the position, size and color.
- Part two of my report must continue from page 45 of part one; how do I start the PDF numbering at 45?Type 45 in the Start number field and the first page reads 45, the next 46. Why the total then becomes the last printed number, and how to show the whole report's total.
- I want no number on the cover but the second page to read Page 2 of 10, not Page 1 of 9; which settings do that?Number pages 2-10 and set the start number to 2 instead of 1: page 2 then reads Page 2 of 10 and the cover stays clean. When to pick this over Page 1 of 9.
- I'm printing a booklet double-sided; how do I keep page numbers on the outer edge of every page?Pick a side and turn on Mirror the side on even pages, so the number stays on the outer edge once printed. Plus the right side for an Arabic booklet.
- The page number landed on top of the company address in my footer; how do I move it clear? The tool places the number by position and never reads the page, so it can land on a footer. Three fixes, margin, position or font size, with real measurements.
- I merged three PDFs that each carry their own old page numbers; how do I add one consistent numbering without confusing readers? The tool adds new numbers but cannot erase old ones, so give the new sequence its own spot and a distinct label like File page 7 of 30 so readers never mix them up.
- How do I print a tender reference together with the page number at the foot of every page of my bid PDF?Use Custom template and type, say, Tender 14 | Page {n} of {total}. The text prints as typed, up to 80 characters, in Arabic or English, and must contain {n}.
- Can one PDF have the main report numbered 1 to 10 and the appendices numbered separately from 1 again?Yes, in two passes: number pages 1-10 and download, then open that result and number 11-15 from 1 with a template like Appendix {n}. Untouched pages stay as they are.
- My PDF has landscape spreadsheet pages; will the page numbers come out sideways or in the wrong spot on them? No. The position is worked out on the page as the reader sees it, honoring rotation and the crop box, so the number sits upright in the right corner.
- My technical bid is confidential; is it safe to number its pages with an online tool?Numbering runs in your browser, so the bid is not uploaded and the original is untouched. The real risk: re-saving breaks a digital signature, so number first.
- What font size and margin should page numbers use so the office printer does not cut them off?Keep numbers at least 10 to 15 mm from the edge, since many printers cannot print right to it, and use 9 to 11 pt on A4. How to confirm it before printing the batch.
- My file is all scanned images; will page numbers still print on those pages?Yes. The number is drawn as new text on top of each page whatever it holds, so scans and phone photos number like any file. How to avoid the dark edges scans often have.
- Is it better to let Word insert page numbers before export, or stamp them on the finished PDF afterwards?Have the Word file and it is the whole document? Number it there, since it updates itself. Number the PDF when it is assembled, has no source, or has scans.
