How it is calculated
Each snake_case name is split into words at the underscores, and at any capital that follows a lowercase letter. The words are then lowercased and joined with hyphens (-). Symbols and spaces around the names are left as they are. Example: user_first_name becomes user-first-name.

Limits and caveats
- Every word becomes lowercase, so acronyms such as API do not keep their capitals.
- Every word in the pasted text is converted, including keywords and library names, so review the result before pasting it into code.
Questions about this tool
Why are hyphens preferred in URLs?
Google recommends hyphens (-) rather than underscores (_) to separate words in URLs, so names like product_details are turned into product-details.
Does the file extension change?
No, the dot is not part of the name, so annual_report_2025.pdf becomes annual-report-2025.pdf.
What if the name is in capitals, like MAX_SIZE?
It is lowercased, so it becomes max-size.
