How it is calculated

The amount is split into Bahraini dinars and fils (1 Bahraini dinar = 1000 fils). Each part is written in words, and the counted noun takes the form set by the last two digits: 1 دينار واحد, 2 ديناران, 3 to 10 دنانير, 11 to 99 دينارًا, and round hundreds and thousands دينار.

Example

Inputs: Amount in BHD = 7.5. Result: Amount in Arabic words: سبعة دنانير بحرينية وخمسمئة فلس; Cheque wording: فقط سبعة دنانير بحرينية وخمسمئة فلس لا غير; Amount in English: Seven Bahraini dinars and five hundred fils.

Limits and caveats

  • For amounts above 100 that end in 1 or 2, such as 101, we follow the common tafqeet form «مئة وواحد دينار».
  • We spell مئة the modern way; مائة is the older spelling of the same word. Up to 15 digits before the decimal point and 3 after it.
