How it is calculated
The amount is split into Kuwaiti dinars and fils (1 dinar = 1000 fils). Each part is written in words, and the counted noun takes the form set by the last two digits: 1 دينار واحد, 2 ديناران, 3 to 10 دنانير, 11 to 99 دينارًا, and round hundreds and thousands دينار.
Example
Inputs: Amount in KWD = 5.125. Result: Amount in Arabic words: خمسة دنانير كويتية ومئة وخمسة وعشرون فلسًا; Cheque wording: فقط خمسة دنانير كويتية ومئة وخمسة وعشرون فلسًا لا غير; Amount in English: Five Kuwaiti dinars and one hundred twenty-five fils.
Limits and caveats
- For amounts above 100 that end in 1 or 2, such as 101, we follow the common tafqeet form «مئة وواحد دينار».
- We spell مئة the modern way; مائة is the older spelling of the same word. Up to 15 digits before the decimal point and 3 after it.
Questions about this tool
Why three decimals?
One Kuwaiti dinar is 1000 fils, so 5.125 is 5 dinars and 125 fils, and 2.5 is 2 dinars and 500 fils.
Why ألفا دينار and not ألفان دينار?
A dual loses its final ن when it is followed directly by the counted noun, so ألفا دينار and مئتا دينار; before another number it stays ألفان.
What is the plural of دينار?
دنانير, used after 3 to 10, as in خمسة دنانير كويتية.
