How it is calculated

The amount is split into Omani rials and baisa (1 Omani rial = 1000 baisa). Each part is written in words, and the counted noun takes the form set by the last two digits: 1 ريال واحد, 2 ريالان, 3 to 10 ريالات, 11 to 99 ريالًا, and round hundreds and thousands ريال.

Example

Inputs: Amount in OMR = 1.250. Result: Amount in Arabic words: ريال عماني واحد ومئتان وخمسون بيسة; Cheque wording: فقط ريال عماني واحد ومئتان وخمسون بيسة لا غير; Amount in English: One Omani rial and two hundred fifty baisa.

Limits and caveats

  • For amounts above 100 that end in 1 or 2, such as 101, we follow the common tafqeet form «مئة وواحد ريال».
  • We spell مئة the modern way; مائة is the older spelling of the same word. Up to 15 digits before the decimal point and 3 after it.

Questions about this tool

How many baisa are in an Omani rial?

One Omani rial is 1000 baisa, so the tool takes three decimals: 1.250 means one rial and 250 baisa.

Why ثماني بيسات and not ثمانية?

بيسة is feminine, so the number takes the masculine form, and ثماني keeps its ya because the noun follows it directly.

How is 12 baisa written?

اثنتا عشرة بيسة: both parts of 12 agree with the feminine noun.
