How it is calculated
The amount is split into US dollars and cents (1 dollar = 100 cents). Each part is written in words, and the counted noun takes the form set by the last two digits: 1 دولار واحد, 2 دولاران, 3 to 10 دولارات, 11 to 99 دولارًا, and round hundreds and thousands دولار.
Example
Inputs: Amount in USD = 99.99. Result: Amount in Arabic words: تسعة وتسعون دولارًا أمريكيًا وتسعة وتسعون سنتًا; Cheque wording: فقط تسعة وتسعون دولارًا أمريكيًا وتسعة وتسعون سنتًا لا غير; Amount in English: Ninety-nine US dollars and ninety-nine cents.
Limits and caveats
- For amounts above 100 that end in 1 or 2, such as 101, we follow the common tafqeet form «مئة وواحد دولار».
- We spell مئة the modern way; مائة is the older spelling of the same word. Up to 15 digits before the decimal point and 2 after it.
Questions about this tool
How many cents are in a dollar?
One dollar is 100 cents, so 99.99 means 99 dollars and 99 cents.
Why is it دولارًا with tanween sometimes?
After 11 to 99 the counted noun is singular accusative, so تسعة وتسعون دولارًا; after round hundreds and thousands it is ألف دولار.
