How to use it

  1. Type the value in the terabytes box.
  2. Read the result in petabytes as you type, and pick the precision you need.
  3. Swap the direction to convert back, or copy the result.

How it is calculated

PB = TB × 0.001

Multiply the value in terabytes by 0.001 to get petabytes.

Example

To convert 25 TB to petabytes: 25 × 0.001 = 0.025 PB.

Questions about this tool

How many petabytes are in one terabyte?

1 TB = 0.001 PB exactly.

How do I convert terabytes to petabytes?

Use PB = TB × 0.001. For example, 25 TB = 0.025 PB.

How many terabytes are in one petabyte?

1 PB = 1,000 TB.

Why does a 1 TB drive show about 931 GB on my computer?

Drive makers count 1 TB as 10^12 bytes, while Windows divides by 2^30 and labels the result GB even though it is really GiB. So 10^12 ÷ 1,073,741,824 gives about 931.32, and no space is missing.

What is the difference between a kilobyte and a kibibyte?

A kilobyte (kB) is a decimal unit of 1000 bytes and a kibibyte (KiB) is a binary unit of 1024 bytes. The same split applies to mega and mebi, giga and gibi, and the gap grows at each step.
