How it is calculated

Gregorian year = Buddhist Era year minus 543, with the same day and month, checking the day is valid (29 February only in a leap year).

Example

Inputs: Buddhist Era year = 2,569, Month = 10. October, Day = 1. Result: Gregorian date: Thursday, October 1, 2026 (2026-10-01); Weekday: Thursday; Written out: 1 October 2026.

Limits and caveats

  • Accepts years 2484 to 2643 (1941 to 2100).
  • It uses the Thai count (543); Sri Lanka and Myanmar use 544.

Questions about this tool

How do I read a Thai expiry year like 2569?

Subtract 543: 2569 means 2026 CE, and the day and month stay the same.

Why was 29 February rejected?

The matching Gregorian year is not a leap year, as with 2568 BE, which is 2025.

Is the Buddhist year ever written with two digits?

Yes, it may be shortened, such as 69 for 2569, so add 2500 before using the tool.
