Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter unix timestamp (seconds) and time zone for the result.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Serial = (timestamp + zone offset in seconds) / 86400 + 25569, where 25569 is the 1900-system serial of 1970-01-01.
Example
Inputs: Unix timestamp (seconds) = 1,700,000,000, Time zone for the result = Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). Result: Excel serial number: 45245.05092593.
Limits and caveats
- The formula uses the offset at this moment only; in a zone with daylight saving the offset can differ for other rows.
- Format the cell as date and time so the number shows as a date.
Questions about this tool
How do I convert a column of Unix timestamps in Excel?
Put =A1/86400+25569 in the next column, fill it down, then format the column as a date.
What if my timestamps are in milliseconds?
Divide by 86400000 instead of 86400, that is =A1/86400000+25569.
Does the formula work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Google Sheets uses the same serial numbers, so the formula gives the same result.
