Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter text.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Each Unicode code point is read and classified: Arabic letter (U+0621 to U+064A), Persian or Urdu letter (such as U+06CC, U+06A9), presentation form (U+FB50 to U+FEFC) or hidden mark (U+200B to U+200F, U+061C, U+202A to U+202E, U+2066 to U+2069, U+FEFF).
Example
Result: Hidden characters: 1; Total characters: 11; Arabic letters: 8.
Limits and caveats
- The table shows the first 400 characters; the counts cover the whole text.
- Non-Arabic characters get generic names such as "Latin letter" or "Other character".
Questions about this tool
What are hidden characters?
Codes that do not show on screen but sit in the text, such as the RLM direction mark or the zero width joiner, and they can stop two identical-looking words from matching.
How do I remove Persian yeh?
Use the Persian and Urdu letters to Arabic tool, which replaces ی and ک with Arabic yeh and kaf.
Why is the character count higher than the letter count?
Vowel marks, spaces and hidden marks each count as separate characters.
