How it is calculated

The message is split into words at / or two spaces, then into letters at each space, and each pattern is matched against the Arabic table and the international digits.

Example

Result: Arabic text: مرحبا بكم; Characters decoded: 8; Codes not recognised: None.

Limits and caveats

  • The pattern - always decodes to ت and .. to ي, because ة and ى are sent with their base letters.
  • Letters must be separated by spaces; an unbroken run can be read more than one way.

Questions about this tool

Why do I see ت instead of ة at the end of a word?

Taa marbuta has no pattern of its own and is sent as ت, so the tool shows the base letter.

Does it read numbers?

Yes. Digits 0 to 9 use the five-element international patterns and come out as 0 to 9.

How is this different from the English decoder?

The same patterns stand for other letters. For example .-.- is ع in the Arabic table and has no letter in the Latin one.
