Processing and privacy: The result is calculated inside your browser and your data is not sent to any server.
How to use it
- Enter encoded text.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Each character takes its index in the alphabet (0 to 57); the number is built by multiplying by 58 and adding, then written out as bytes. Each leading 1 adds a zero byte.
Example
Result: Decoded text: Hello World!; Bytes: 12.
2NEpo7TZRRrLZSi2U
Hello World!
Limits and caveats
- The Base58Check checksum is not verified, so a mistyped address can still decode without warning.
- Only the Bitcoin alphabet is supported.
Questions about this tool
Why is there no text when I decode a wallet address?
An address holds a version byte, a hash and a checksum. These are binary bytes, so they appear in hex.
What does a leading 1 mean?
Each leading 1 stands for one zero byte in the original data.
Are spaces ignored?
Yes. Spaces and line breaks are removed before decoding.
