- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.

How it is calculated
One basis point = 0.01% = 0.0001. So percent = basis points ÷ 100 and decimal = basis points ÷ 10,000.
Example
Inputs: Basis points = 25 bp. Result: Percentage: 0.25%; Decimal: 0.0025.
Limits and caveats
- Basis points measure a change in percentage points: 5% plus 25 bp is 5.25%, not 25% more than 5%.
Questions about this tool
How much is one basis point?
It is 0.01%, one hundredth of a percent, so 100 basis points make 1%.
What does a 50 basis point rate cut mean?
A cut of 0.5%, so a 5.5% rate becomes 5%.
Why not just say 0.25%?
Basis points avoid mixing up percentage points with relative change; 25 bp can only mean one thing.
