I have a list of discount codes written inconsistently; how do I make them all uppercase before adding them to my store?
Paste the codes into the case converter, one per line, and choose «UPPERCASE»: every Latin letter becomes a capital, digits and hyphens stay where they are, and a code written in Arabic stays as it is because Arabic has no capital and small letters. Then check the «Characters changed» count under the result to confirm the conversion touched what you expected.
Why make codes consistent?
When several people work on one campaign, codes arrive in different shapes: ramadan25 from the marketer, Summer-10 from an old file, RAMADAN25 from an influencer's post. Some stores accept a code in whatever case the customer types and some match it exactly, and we cannot vouch for how your platform behaves. Making them consistent removes the doubt: the code you publish is the code you added, character for character.
Capitals are a practical choice for codes, too. They read clearly in images and stories, and a small l cannot be mistaken for the digit 1 the way it sometimes is in small fonts.
A real example
Three codes: ramadan25, then summer-10, then an Arabic code, «عيد50». After «UPPERCASE» they came out as:
- RAMADAN25
- SUMMER-10
- عيد50
The tool reports 13 characters changed, exactly the Latin letters in the first two codes (7 in ramadan, 6 in summer). Digits and the hyphen were not counted because they did not change, and the tool notes that 3 uncased letters passed through unchanged: the letters of عيد.
The count shows what you missed
The «Characters changed» number is not decoration. A code already in capitals adds nothing to it. Four lines, Ramadan25, RAMADAN25, ramadan25 and summer-10, all came out in capitals with a count of 19: six from the first line (everything except the R), none from the second, seven from the third and six from the fourth.
More importantly, the first three lines all became RAMADAN25. You had one code written three ways and might have added it three times. After converting, run the list through the Duplicate-line remover so each code appears once.
Steps
- Collect the codes into one list, one per line.
- Paste into the Text case converter and choose «UPPERCASE». Leave the locale on «English / default».
- Check the changed-characters count, then copy the result.
- Remove repeats in the duplicate line remover, then add the codes in your store dashboard.
A word on the locale
If you switch «Locale for the case rules» to Turkish, a small i becomes İ with a dot, so istanbul turns into İSTANBUL. That is correct Turkish, but in a discount code it means a different character that will not match what customers type. Keep the locale on English for codes.
Common questions
Does the tool remove spaces from codes?
No. Changing case never touches spaces, so a trailing space stays. Watch for it before adding the code.
Can an Arabic code be made «uppercase»?
No, Arabic has no case. An Arabic code stays exactly as you wrote it in every mode.
