How do I insert one PDF into the middle of another instead of at the end?

The example we will use

A 9-page contract, and a 2-page annex that has to sit straight after page 4, between the pricing clause and the terms. The result should be one 11-page file.

Route one: split, then merge

1. Open the contract in Split PDF, choose 'One PDF per range' and type 1-4, 5-9. You get a ZIP with the two parts.
2. Open Merge PDFs and add part one, then the annex, then part two.
3. Check the list: 4 pages, then 2, then 5, and the summary shows 11 pages.
4. Press 'Merge and download'.

This route is quicker when the inserted file is long, because you never move its pages one at a time.

Route two: merge, then reorder

1. Merge the contract and then the annex in Merge PDFs. The annex pages land in positions 10 and 11.
2. Open the merged file in Reorder PDF pages, where every page appears as a thumbnail.
3. Move page 10 back step by step until it follows page 4, then move page 11 to follow it.
4. Check the 'New order' line: it should read 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Then download.

Which one to choose

• Inserting one or two pages: merge then reorder is clearer, because you see the pages as you move them.
• Inserting a long file of dozens of pages: split then merge is far faster.
• Several insertion points in the same file: split the main file into as many parts as you need, then merge the parts and the new files alternately.

Either way, every page keeps its own size. A landscape table in the annex stays landscape between the contract's portrait pages.
