How do I prepare a quote in Kuwaiti dinars with fils to three decimals?
Choose KWD from the currency list and the tool switches to three decimal places for every line and every total, rounding each line to the nearest fils before adding them up. Type prices exactly as agreed with the client, such as 12.750; the tool does not convert from riyals or any other currency.
Why three decimals?
The Kuwaiti dinar divides into a thousand fils, not a hundred. A tool that rounded to two places would lose fractions of a fils on every line and show the client something like 8.25 instead of 8.250, which looks careless on a business document. The tool treats the Bahraini dinar (BHD), Jordanian dinar (JOD) and Omani rial (OMR) the same way. The Qatari riyal, UAE dirham and Saudi riyal use two places.
Example: a Saudi shop selling to a client in Kuwait
3 perfume bottles × 12.750 = 38.250 KWD.
2 boxes of bakhoor × 4.125 = 8.250 KWD.
Total 46.500 KWD with no tax.
In the PDF table the unit prices are printed to three places too, so the 12.75 you typed appears as 12.750 and the table stays consistent from top to bottom.
How rounding to the fils works
Each line is calculated exactly first, then rounded to the currency's smallest unit, and only then added up. Take a line priced at 0.3335 per piece with a quantity of 7:
- The exact result is 7 × 0.3335 = 2.3345.
- In Kuwaiti dinars it is rounded to 2.335, the nearest fils.
- Had the currency been Saudi riyals, the same line would round to 2.33, because the smallest unit is the halala.
So do not switch currency at the last minute without checking the figures: changing the currency does not convert the prices, but it does change how they are rounded.
And tax in dinars?
If a tax applies to you, enter its rate and it is also worked out to the nearest fils. An example in Bahraini dinars with a 10% rate entered by the seller: the same lines give 46.500, tax 4.650 and a total of 51.150 BHD. The rate is only there to show the arithmetic, not a statement about any country's tax rules.
- In the Quotation generator select KWD, BHD, OMR or JOD from the currency list before entering the lines.
- Type prices to three decimals as they appear in your price list.
- Check each line total in the table, then the totals summary.
- Create the file. When the client accepts, create the invoice in the same currency with the Basic invoice generator.
Common questions
Can I type 12.75 without the final zero?
Yes. The tool reads 12.75 and 12.750 the same way and prints it to three places.
Does the tool convert riyals into dinars?
No. Agree the dinar price with the client first, then type it.
How many decimals can I type?
Numbers are read exactly to six decimal places, and each line total is then rounded to the fils.
