If I want my watermark in my brand's font, should I use the text option or a logo image?
Use a logo image. The tool's 'Text' type draws only IBM Plex Sans Arabic and IBM Plex Sans, on one line and in one color, with no option for another font. If your shop has its own typeface, export your name in it as a PNG with a transparent background from your design app and upload that as the logo; it is drawn exactly as you designed it.
What each type gives you
- Text: IBM Plex in two weights, regular or bold, one color of your choice, and an outline or shadow whose color is set automatically. One line of up to 120 characters. Quick, sharp at any photo size, and no file needed.
- Logo: any design you like as PNG, WebP or JPEG up to 10 MB. Your own typeface, two or more lines, an icon with a name, several colors: all drawn as they are.
Both types then share the same settings: size as a share of the width, opacity, rotation, and position or repeat. So the choice is only about looks, not about what you can do with the mark.
When text is enough
If your brand does not rely on a particular typeface, or you want a quiet mark with just the shop name or handle, text is a great choice. IBM Plex is clear and matches well across Arabic and English, and its Arabic letters are drawn joined. Because it is drawn directly at the size needed, it stays sharp even on large camera photos, which a small logo file cannot promise.
How to prepare a logo in your brand font
- In whatever design app you use, type the shop name in your brand typeface and colors.
- Make the design large, 1500 px wide or more, so it does not blur on big photos.
- Export it as a PNG with a transparent background. JPEG will not do, because it adds a background.
- In the Image watermark editor tool, choose the 'Logo' type and upload the file, then set the size, opacity and position.
What you give up with a logo
- The automatic outline and shadow are for text only. If your logo is white and vanishes on light backgrounds, add a dark edge in the design itself.
- Changing the words means a new export from your design app, while text changes as fast as you can type.
- A logo has a fixed resolution, so a small one enlarged on a wide photo loses its sharpness.
A practical way to have both: prepare one polished logo file for your main store photos, and use text for quick everyday images such as WhatsApp photos and status posts, where opening a design app is not worth it.
Common questions
Can I upload a font file for the tool to use?
No, the tool does not accept font files. Your own typeface can only reach it as a logo image.
What if IBM Plex fails to load?
The browser uses a fallback font and a note tells you so. Check the preview before downloading.
Can one word of the text be a different color?
No, text is a single color. Several colors need a logo.
