Why does my logo show up with a white box around it when I use it as a watermark?
Because the white box is inside the logo file, and the tool draws the logo exactly as it is. Most likely your logo is a JPEG, a format that has no transparency at all, or a PNG that was saved with a white background. Upload a PNG or WebP with a genuinely transparent background and the white edges disappear at once.
How to tell what your logo file is
- Check the extension: jpg or jpeg means the background is part of the picture, and there is no transparency whatever you do.
- A png or webp may or may not be transparent. Open it in your photo viewer: transparency usually shows as a grey and white checkerboard or as black, while solid white means a saved white background.
- A logo you saved from your Instagram profile or from a screenshot is usually not transparent.
The watermark tool keeps transparency when it is there: upload a transparent PNG or WebP and its alpha channel is copied as is, with no frame around the logo. So the problem is not the tool, it is the file that reached it.
Where to get a transparent version
- Ask the designer who made the logo. They usually have the source file and can export a transparent PNG in minutes.
- Look through your old brand files for a PNG or SVG; an SVG can be exported to a transparent PNG from any design app.
- If you designed the logo yourself in a design app, export it again with the transparent background option switched on.
Why converting the JPEG to PNG does not help
Conversion only changes how the file is stored. It has no idea which white pixels are 'background' and which belong to the logo. A JPEG logo converted to PNG is still a white square with a logo in it, just in a bigger file. Removing a background is a different job entirely, and this tool does not do it.
Stopgaps if no transparent version exists
- If all your product photos are on white, the white box almost melts into the background, especially at low opacity. Check the preview on several photos.
- Switch to the 'Text' type and type your shop name for now in the Image watermark editor tool; text carries no background.
- Lowering the opacity makes the box less obvious but fades the logo with it, so it is not a real fix.
Common questions
What is the best logo format for this tool?
PNG or WebP with a transparent background. JPEG is accepted too, but its background shows as it is.
Is there a size limit for the logo?
Yes, up to 10 MB, which is far more than any logo needs.
My logo is transparent but its edges look slightly white. Why?
Some logos are exported with semi-transparent edges blended with white. That is in the file itself; ask the designer for a clean export.
