I typed the number in Arabic-Indic digits from my phone keyboard; will the link generator accept it?

Yes. It accepts the Arabic-Indic digits ٠ to ٩ and converts them to 0 to 9 inside the link, so +٩٦٦ ٥٠ ١٢٣ ٤٥٦٧ becomes 966501234567. What it does not accept is the local form: ٠٥٠١٢٣٤٥٦٧ on its own is rejected for starting with 0, exactly as 0501234567 would be. The fix is to pick +966 in the country-code helper.

Why this matters at all

The Arabic keyboard on many phones types digits in the Arabic-Indic form ٠١٢٣, and some customers send their numbers that way in order messages. A link only works with Western digits: wa.me followed by Arabic-Indic digits means nothing to WhatsApp. Copy such a number into a link you type by hand and you hit the problem. The WhatsApp link generator converts the digits before it checks anything.

What the tool accepts

  • Arabic-Indic digits ٠ to ٩, as in +٩٦٦ ٥٠ ١٢٣ ٤٥٦٧, which becomes 966501234567.
  • Persian digits ۰ to ۹, which sometimes turn up in copied text, as in ۰۰۹۶۶۵۰۱۲۳۴۵۶۷, which becomes the same 966501234567 once the 00 is removed.
  • A mixture of both forms in one number, because the conversion works character by character.
  • Spaces and the hidden direction marks that cling to Arabic text when you copy it from a chat or your phone's notes.

What is still rejected

Conversion changes how the digits look; it does not add a country code. So the local ٠٥٠١٢٣٤٥٦٧ is converted to 0501234567 and then rejected, with a message saying the number starts with 0 and WhatsApp links need the country code. That is not a problem with Arabic digits; it is the local format itself.

  1. Pick 'Saudi Arabia +966' in the country-code helper.
  2. Paste the Arabic-Indic number as it is: ٠٥٠١٢٣٤٥٦٧.
  3. The tool converts it to Western digits, removes the 0 and adds 966, so the 'Number inside the link' line reads +966501234567.

What about the pre-filled message?

Digits inside the message are a separate matter. If the message says «أريد ٣ قطع», the ٣ stays Arabic-Indic as you typed it, because the tool does not change the message text; it only encodes it to travel inside the link and appear unchanged. If you want the digits in the message in one consistent form, say an order number your system searches for, convert them before pasting with the Arabic/Persian/Western digit converter.

A quick check before you publish

Once the link is made, look at the link itself in the result box: the part after wa.me should be Western digits only. If it is, the conversion worked. Then open the link and confirm it reaches the right person, since the tool checks the shape and cannot know whether the number is registered on WhatsApp.

Common questions

Do I need to switch keyboard language before typing the number?

No. Type with whatever digits your keyboard shows, Arabic-Indic or Western, and the tool converts them.

I typed Arabic-Indic digits and got 'digits only'. Why?

You most likely copied another character along with the number, such as the word «جوال» or a colon. Delete everything that is not a digit, space, dash or bracket.
