How do I check that my product title fits the character limit shown in my Noon or Amazon seller dashboard?
Paste the title into the word counter and compare 'Characters (as read)', which includes spaces, with the limit your seller dashboard or its guide shows for the title field. The tool assumes no number for Noon or Amazon, because the limit can vary by category and change over time. Spaces, hyphens and digits are all characters, and cutting filler words and doubled spaces is the quickest way to shorten a title.
A real title in numbers
An English coffee title of the kind many sellers write: Arabic Coffee 500g with Cardamom - Medium Roast. In the Word and character counter it gives:
- 47 characters as read, including 7 spaces and the hyphen.
- 40 characters without spaces.
- 7 words, with 500g as one of them. The hyphen alone is not a word.
Start from 47, since character limits in forms often include spaces and it is the safer figure. Confirm it in the platform's guide, though: if it states that spaces do not count, your figure is 40.
The spaces you cannot see
When you copy a title from Excel or an old listing, a double space between words or a space at the end can slip in. We tried the Arabic version of this title, «قهوة عربية أصيلة 500 غرام بالهيل - تحميص متوسط», which is 46 characters, then added two extra spaces inside it and one at the end. Words stayed at 8 and characters without spaces at 38, but characters as read rose to 49. Three characters gone for nothing, and you would never spot them in the title box.
How to shorten a title that runs over
- Cut words that tell the buyer nothing, such as 'authentic' unless it is a genuine distinguishing feature.
- Drop the hyphen and separator symbols if the order is clear without them.
- Reorder so the most important information comes first: product type, then weight or size, then the specification.
- Paste the new version into the counter and compare again.
Doing this, the English title became Arabic Coffee with Cardamom 500g Medium Roast: 45 characters instead of 47, still 7 words, and nothing the buyer needs was lost. The Arabic one went from 46 characters to 38.
Titles mixing Arabic and English
If you add the English name to the same title, every Latin letter counts as one character, just like an Arabic letter. The Arabic title above with '| Arabic Coffee 500g' appended came to 67 characters and 11 words. If the dashboard asks for a separate Arabic title, count it on its own. To standardise capital letters in the English title, use the Text case converter; it does not change the character count.
Common questions
Does the tool know the current Noon or Amazon title limit?
No. It only measures your text exactly. The limit is in your seller dashboard or the platform's guide, and it may differ by category.
Does a symbol such as ® or × count as one character?
Yes, as read. But some systems reject special symbols in titles, so check the platform's guide before using them.
