This tool turns a dose written per m² into a total dose from height and weight, as used in chemotherapy.

How to use it
- Enter height, weight, dose per m² and bsa formula.
- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
Mosteller: BSA = √(height cm × weight kg ÷ 3600). Du Bois: BSA = 0.007184 × weight^0.425 × height^0.725. Total dose = dose per m² × BSA.
Example
Inputs: Height = 170 cm, Weight = 70 kg, Dose per m² = 100 mg/m², BSA formula = Mosteller. Result: Total dose: 181.8 mg; Body surface area: 1.818 m².
Limits and caveats
- The tool does not choose a dose for any drug; the dose per m² comes from the prescriber and protocol.
- Some protocols cap BSA or round the dose, and the tool does not apply either.
- An educational estimate that does not replace assessment by a doctor or pharmacist.
Questions about this tool
How do Mosteller and Du Bois differ?
Both estimate body surface area and differ little in adults. Mosteller is simpler and widely used for chemotherapy dosing.
Why are some drugs dosed by body surface area?
Surface area tracks metabolic rate better than weight alone, so it is used for drugs with a narrow margin.
Does it work for units other than mg?
Yes. The arithmetic is the same for any unit per m², such as international units, so read the result in that unit.
