How to use it

  1. Enter text or numbers.
  2. The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
  3. Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.

How it is calculated

Every character from U+0966 to U+096F is replaced by its Western digit: the value is the character code minus U+0966. The rest of the text is left unchanged.

Example

Result: Converted text: कीमत 1500 रुपये; Digits converted: 4.

कीमत १५०० रुपये
कीमत 1500 रुपये

Limits and caveats

  • It does not convert digits of other Indian scripts such as Bengali or Gujarati, which have their own codes. Use the universal tool for those.

Questions about this tool

Why does a web form reject Hindi digits?

Many forms only check for 0 to 9. After conversion the digits are accepted and keep their value.

Is the Hindi text itself changed?

No. Letters and punctuation stay the same, and only U+0966 to U+096F are converted.

Does it work for Marathi and Nepali?

Yes, because they use the same Devanagari digits.
