How it is calculated

Thai Buddhist Era year = Gregorian year + 543; the day and month stay the same because Thailand uses Gregorian months and has started the year on 1 January since 1941.

Example

Inputs: Gregorian date = 2026-10-01. Result: Converted date: 1 October 2569 BE; Buddhist Era year: 2,569; Day: 1.

Limits and caveats

  • The range starts on 1 January 1941, because the Thai year began on 1 April before then.
  • Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Cambodia use a different count, so their year can be one higher.
