How to use it

- The result appears straight away and updates as you edit.
- Copy the result, or copy a link that keeps the same values to share it.
How it is calculated
New value = number × (1 + percentage ÷ 100) to increase, or number × (1 - percentage ÷ 100) to decrease
Example
Inputs: Number = 200, Percentage = 15 %, Operation = Increase. Result: New value: 230; Amount of change: 30.
Limits and caveats
- A decrease above 100% gives a negative value, which may not make sense for your case.
Questions about this tool
How do I increase 200 by 15%?
Multiply 200 by 1.15 to get 230, so the increase is 30.
Does a 10% rise then a 10% cut bring me back to the same number?
No. 100 becomes 110 and then 99, because the cut is taken from 110.
How do I find the number before the increase?
That is the reverse calculation. Use the reverse percentage calculator, which divides by (1 + percentage ÷ 100).
